Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using OurTab ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and OurTab ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of Service
OurTab is a mobile application that helps users split expenses, track shared costs, and manage balances among friends and groups. The App provides tools including:
- Expense splitting and tracking
- Group expense management
- Real-time balance calculations
- AI-powered receipt scanning
- Currency conversion
- Settlement tracking and payment reminders
- Tip calculator
3. User Accounts
To use the App, you must create an account using a valid email address, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Providing accurate and up-to-date information
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account and use the App.
4. User Responsibilities
When using the App, you agree to:
- Use the App only for its intended purpose of tracking and splitting shared expenses
- Provide accurate information when recording expenses
- Not use the App for any illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activities
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Not interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers
- Not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
5. Expense Tracking Disclaimer
OurTab is not a financial institution, bank, payment processor, or accounting service. The App is a tool for tracking and organizing shared expenses among friends and groups. We do not:
- Process, facilitate, or guarantee any financial transactions or payments
- Provide financial, tax, or legal advice
- Verify the accuracy of expenses entered by users
- Mediate or resolve financial disputes between users
- Act as a debt collector or enforce payment obligations
All actual payments between users must be arranged independently outside of the App. OurTab bears no responsibility for debts, payments, or financial agreements between users.
6. AI Receipt Scanning
The App offers AI-powered receipt scanning to assist with expense entry. This feature uses optical character recognition and artificial intelligence to extract information from receipt images. We do not guarantee the accuracy of scanned data. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming all extracted information before submitting an expense.
7. Subscriptions and Pro Features
OurTab offers a free tier with core functionality and a paid Pro subscription with additional features. Subscriptions are managed through Google Play and are subject to their respective terms and policies. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app store.
8. User Content and Data
You retain ownership of the content you create within the App, including expense descriptions, group names, and receipt images. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service.
You are responsible for any content you submit and must ensure it does not violate any laws or infringe upon the rights of others.
9. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, logos, and brand elements, is the intellectual property of OurTab and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our written permission.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OurTab shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
- Financial losses arising from reliance on expense data within the App
- Disputes between users regarding shared expenses or payments
- Service interruptions, data loss, or errors in calculations
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to other users or to the App. You may also delete your account at any time through the App's settings. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which OurTab operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
